I no longer keep my battery's installed in my trailer. Last year I bought 2 new 105's for my trailer. I have been using 105's sense they were 60 bucks apiece. My problem or question is why when stored above ground in the garage they lose charge? I normally plug in my Sears best quality charger and charge on 2 amps every month. Both battery's normally show 60-65% every time and require a few hours to be brought back to 100%. I know all battery's lose capacity every time they are cycled. Should I wait till they are down to around 85% drained before charging sense it sounds like every time I re-charge I lose a cycle?

I can't tell you why they are loosing charge. I have read that if you let them drop to below 50% that you are doing damage to the battery. I think I would try leaving the trickle charger on them all the time and see what you get. You also may want to have them tested at the battery place to see if they possibly have gone bad. I would do that when they have a full charge.l

All batteries spontaneously discharge over time even when not connected so nothing unusual about that. They will last longer if you do not let then discharge so far.

Thanks guys for your input. The thought of leaving both these bran new battery's on trickle 24/7 is out of the question, especially sense I also have two 12volt deep cycle and one 12 volt stating battery in the boat that suffer from similar characteristics. I guess the best I can do is baby sit battery's every weekend.

My batteries stay in the TC all winter and the TC is in the garage. I keep the camper shore powered all winter and let the converter keep them charged. I use a 3 stage converter that maintains the batteries and runs an automatic desulfation cycle.

I just check the water monthly.

2 Trojan 6 volt golf cart batteries wired in parallel. To insure both batteries 'see' the converter equally, I pull the positive off one battery and the negative off the other.

At some point, when the technology gets less expensive, I'll replace both with Lithium-Iron batteries. No water to deal with, steady voltage down to almost no charge, no memory and can be completely discharged and recharged to 100% capacity with no issues.

Conventional batteries when totally discharged are basically worthless.

Not sure what you mean by the batteries "seeing" the converter.

I use a Battery Tender Plus 12V @ 1.25A to charge my 2 6-volt batteries and they seem to work okay. Is there something different I should do? New to this to a point, and don't want to screw things up.
