Make sure its tied down good if your truck has a hoist
Forget the camper for now, think about everything you might ever want, need to carry and start adding it up. Since truck payload specs don't even count gas (my 2011 Silverado carries 280 lbs of gas, 300 for passengers, 100 lbs water, etc etc.) You need to start with something with a #3,000 payload. Don't be fooled, even a 3/4 ton HD Duramax with 9,200 GVWR only has a #2,000 payload. Gas engine cuts about 500 lbs out of the truck weight. Regular cab, another 200 lbs. Probably need to look at a 1 ton single rear wheel or any dually. Of course I have been reading the list and many run overloaded and would be selling supplies on the side of the road if the DOT was having a blitz. Anyone give my mother in law a lift? Rarely used Air conditioner for sell, keep plastic to cover the hole. (Love my mom in law) |
