listed it on craigslist. figured id post it here too.

im not going to get into the reasons for selling it but surfice to say im not really happy about it.

Selling my truck with 437,000 miles. service has ALWAYS been done on time, and i can prove it. Was used to haul RV's. No longer in the buisness. Transmisson shifts hard from 2nd to 3rd only if you dont let off and let it shift. Trans shop checked it out and said its fine as long as it doest slip, which it doesent. Runs strong and pulls hard. Leather seats, pwr windows, locks, seats, mirrors. Stock cd player still works. Everthing works as its supposed to. Did have 98 gallon tank in the bed but I sold it last year, everthing else for dual tanks is still there.

Blue book is still $10,000 in fair condition

as long as my camper is on my truck its covered under my truck insurance, full coverage. if its sitting in my yard its covered under my home owners (same as a shed) if im at a campground and i unload its covered under my rv policy that i have for my bus. It was pretty confusing when i got my first one figuring out which policy would cover it and when. i had to make alot of phone calls to figure it all out.

if it were me id pull the bed off and mount the camper to the frame, then make my own storage compartmentsin the spaces left. either that or modd the bed to allow it to fit.

but thats just me.

at least some ratchet straps. the heavy 3in. ones. when i went to get either one of mine for the first time thats what i took. the last one i got didnt have any place to hook the straps so i just went up and over the camper. it fit all the way in the bed and i could close the tailgate so it wasent going anywhere. (even with most of the walls rotted.) it didnt move an inch at 70mph down the highway.

why not just run off the 12v charge line in the 7 way plug. both my trucks have a switch to just the charge line off when not needed. i used to haul rvs for a living. we never put a battery in the unit for a short trip. just ran the electric jacks off the charge line then shut it off while going down the road. in my own rv i left the switch on to keep the battery up while i was going down the road. (only took me one time of forgetting to shut the switch off when we stopped to remeber)

If you dont have a 7 way plug you should, along with a brake contorler for the trialer brakes.

QUOTE(harkmays @ Apr 10 2010, 09:58 PM)
Anybody keep their TC in a standard height garage? I'm looking to buy used & would prefer not to have to go to a popup. If I use a low dolly can I find a camper that I can roll into my garage? The clearance is about 7' 2". Thanks for the help!!
*

ive put put mine in the garage. in fact its going back in there as soon as i get a few other projects out of the way. i lower it as far as i can with the jacks then have to take them off and use floor jack the rest of the way down. (my brother can just lift one side at time and lower it but not me) then once on the jack i lower it down onto some steel pipe. then just roll it in on the pipes taking the ones from the back and putting them in the front till i get all the way in. i have 4 pipes that i use. my buddies dad did it with 6" pvc pipe, but i didnt have any around so i used what i had.

i had a 76 honey that didnt have a place for a battery on the inside of the camper. there was a plug on the front to hook into the truck. i guess they expected you to run off the truck battery. my 74 kz is under the the table bench. youll just have to look in every cabnet to find were (if any) the hook up are or or supposed to be.

my 99 f350 quad cab dually w/ 7.3l deisel says the same thing.

funny thing is a few years ago i rented a trailer from uhaul to haul a car, there system said my f350 didnt meet there standards. but my 93 dodge regular cab dually did. go figure. (i used my f350 anyways)

Thanks. yea the metal is in really good shape. I plan on giving the camper a nice coat or two of gloss white paint when im all said and done. If it turns out how i picture it in my head it will look brand new when im done. (actually most of it will be new)

i just picked up some old church pews for free 16' long. im going to cut the backs down and make a new counter and table out of them then make two benches 6-8ft. long with the rest and sell them. that should help with the funding to get my camper going. today was the first nice day that we have had around here in over a week but ive been inside all day with Rosetta Stone spanish. (once i started this morning i couldnt stop) it supposed to be nice all week though so im hoping to get out there tommorrow and get some work done.

Thought i would share my work with you guys. Last fall i picked up my camper for $100. Ive done a few other restorations in the past so this one did not scare me at first glance. Tearing into it i found a whole new can of worms, but nothing i cant handle. Ill pretty much be tearing it all down and doing a complete rebuild. All four corners have extensive rot and ill be redesigning the front to be more aerodynamic. Ive done a complete write up with pics on my blog Bikevision
So far all ive got done is to rip out all the rotted paneling and patch the roof where it was leaking. The weather is keeping me from realling digging into it. And right now my materals on hand are lacking so that will put off some work till i can get them. Ive always tried to find used materals instead of buying new. Its a big trend now to reuse materals "Going Green" but for me it hasent really been the green side of it. more of the $$ side and i dont like to waste things.

The dodge that its sitting on now has in the past just been my backup, but ill be putting it back on the road too which takes priorty over the camper. So this rebuild may take longer than id planned on at first but ill get there. For me id rather buy a cheap camper and put a few grand into it then spend 10,000+ on a new one.

i bought a 74 K-Z sportsmen for $100. it needs some work, mostly replacing paneling inside. i got this camper to replace my motorhome. i was full timing in the motorhome till it started to fall apart. (i bought a lemon) now im back home and got this old slide in and have the itch to hit the road.

im looking for ideas. anthing i should do or shouldnt do while im working on the slide in. the slide in has a sink stove (no oven) ice box, and furnace. i can live in small spaces. i prefer it. i had a old 76 honey that was going to be my bug out camper but was too big to leave in the back of my truck all the time and was to old to take in and out alot. ive got a 1 ton dodge dually but its a little warn with 511,000 miles. i also have a 14ft converted popup to trailer/shed that i will be hauling behind the truck. it hauled great behind the motorhome but not so good with just 1/2 ton truck. hoping my dodge with the camper on back will make it better.

the motorhome was nice but i couldnt afford the fuel. 8mpg when my dodge at its worst was 11 without over drive. (im planning a veggie oil tank add on) the trailer will provide the extra storage that he slide it doesent have. im also thinking of putting a solar setup either on the trailer or slidein but first i have to get the slide in fixed

heres a pic of my motorhome and trailer.
