If you are considering going to Fairmont Hot Springs in BC stay away with your Truck Camper. They have an unwritten policy/rule that you are not allowed to remove your truck from your camper. They don't tell you this at the time you reserve, but only upon arrival and refuse refunds. I caught the manager in three separate lies and have rarely been treated so poorly. We wanted to remove the truck to go sightseeing and were trapped in the RV resort. I would have defied the unwritten rule but it was my daughters 12 year old birthday and I didn't want to ruin her birthday.
We asked why they have this unwritten policy, they have no reason for this policy per the manager it is just their policy. "Once the camper and truck are separated the camper ceases to be an RV". Long story short if you take your camper to BC, stay away from Fairmont Hot Springs unless you have no plans to remove your truck from the camper. |

I have heard about rules like the one described that discriminate against those of us who choose to own a TC. I am just completing my rig and the only reason I chose to buy this stuff was it would allow me to leave the TC at camp while I traveled to the surrounding lakes with my truck and boat. I sure hope I don't encounter this BS while on my upcoming vacation. I once considered buying a lot in a private campground, that is until I saw the CC&R regulations. No rigs over 5 years old were allowed and no TC's at all, the age or value meant nothing. I will do the same thing you are doing with this post if I encounter this problem, pure pressure sometimes is the only recourse that changes minds.

I have stayed at many, many campgrounds in the PNW(not Calif).I always remove my camper, but I never ask permission, I just remove it. Never had a problem. On the other hand, I have never stayed in a campground that had hookup of any kind.
I don't fish lakes in California because of their exorbitant boat inspections fees. I used to take a month vacation and visit 20 or more lakes, now it will cost be $35-50 per lake in inspections fees. Now Calif. has add a $16 to your boat registration fee also. I now travel to Oregon where there is $22 fee on your fishing license and that is it. I have never had my boat inspected in Oregon, except for safety items and it is free. The additional fuel cost traveling to Oregon is a pittance compared to the inspection fees in Calif. Luckily Calif. doesn't inspect your boat if you float rivers or go in the ocean...yet. -------------------- 2011, F-350,CC,DRW,6.7,4WD

I wonder if this is still their policy until today.
