QUOTE(scootergrampa @ Jan 12 2011, 04:33 PM) I live in the sacramento, california area and am in need of jacks to lift my camper off the ground so i can put it on blocks. If you know where I can get a pair for cheap, or borrow/rent a pair, please let me know. Rieco makes manual jacks. Also, if you want to get fancy there are Atwood Electric Jacks. Renting a forklift may be an option as well. |

QUOTE(Tayook @ Jul 1 2010, 02:52 PM) I am going to be here a lot over the next few weeks! We are having a cable made for the camper. Male to male 10'. Now here is another question. We have an adapter to take the four way on our truck up to a seven way plug, but that will only operate the marker lights correct? We will not be using the 12 volt to run the interior lighting in the camper. I found this converter that would allow the camper plug, plus the four way for the boat. Would this converter solve the problem? And the next question, where do we draw the blue, black, and yellow wires from? Or if I am asking that question should we have someone else hook it up. I am actually good about wiring, I just do not know where to draw the wires from on the truck. As for another question. What operates the water pumps in the camper? I know the fridge and heater are either gas or electric. But in situation where we do not have an electric hookup, how are the water pumps operated? Anything else on how TC operate is VERY appreciated! RV water pumps are normally 12V operating on the battery. Also, the 4-way to 7-way adapter is priced lower at the link provided. |

QUOTE(Tayook @ Jun 30 2010, 10:11 PM) The camper does not have any wires. There is an "outlet" on the camper under the cabover that the guy says the cable will connect to the truck plug with this "cable" we need. As far as the diesel F250, it will probably be put on hold. We are having problems finding any in our price range that are within a reasonable driving distance. Until then we are going to have some extra leaf spring put in to help our F150 out. We have friends that own a garage and used leaf springs are pretty easy to come by. We will see how it works. Hopefully I will have some photos to post after the weekend. Thanks a bunch for the help so far. It sounds like you need a 7 way pigtail with 2 male ends to hook your camper up to your truck. |

Those look like Rieco Jacks. In that case you would want Rieco's Dually Bracket Extensions. Atwood's Dually brackets are specifically for Atwood jacks and will not fit other brands necessarily. The drill adapter can be found at the link provided if your jacks are in fact made by Rieco. |

QUOTE(aqualung @ Jun 28 2010, 10:15 AM) Its time to add some airbags to the truck just to level it out and provide that extra stability. I've been looking around and found these SumoSprings. Its sounds like a great idea, the utility of airbags but without the need to put air in them or to worry about an air leak while on the road. Has anyone tried these out? Should I go with front and rear Sumosprings? Should I stick to standard airbags? Here's the link: http://www.supersprings.com/ Thanks in advance for any feedback! What is nice about Firestone's Ride Rite Air Bags is you can adjust each individual bag and deflate the bags when you have no load reducing the roughness of the ride. The Sumosprings are much like Timbrens basically an extension of the jounce bumper. Torklift makes Stable Load which hit each end of the overload spring as seen in the link provided. |

QUOTE(1888 @ Jun 21 2010, 01:25 AM) Hello everyone Any hints or tricks to build this........ but to just have the back end flush with truck bed to the end of the tailgate I found that image on google images. Its the look I want to go with for a camper. No windows, just plain white wood and 3 or 4 roof vents or sunroofs. The crew cab is what I want, but an extended cab would do as well. 4x4, gasoline engine either fuel injected or carburated. The main thing I would do is tear out the back window and metal below it for quick, easy access into camper without getting out, slamming door closed, opening rear camper door, slamming that shut and getting the 6am knock. Check out this post from one of the forum members who has successfully built a truck camper. He has links to pictures and more information on his blog. |

QUOTE(Neverhome @ Jun 9 2010, 09:38 PM) Walmart sells leveling interlocking poly blocks that look like giant lego's. You can stack as many as needed to level your truck without having to adjust the camper jacks. I have used them and they work well. Simply drive the truck up on them and add or remove blocks until the truck is level. Neverhome. I agree the Lynx Leveling Blocks work very well. |

QUOTE(KY_Campers @ Jun 27 2010, 11:03 AM) I was wondering if anyone has used a ''cover'' like this one? ''Truck Camper Cover''... From Northern Tool I know a guy that just used a regular tarp over his for the winter, and when spring came.... He took it off and the ''regular tarp'' was causing a lot of ''condensation'' inside the camper. Any help would be appreciated! This Truck Camper Cover has good reviews and at a much lower price. |

QUOTE(Paradise3 @ Sep 16 2009, 11:08 AM) Hello, Im brand new to the forum! Could anyone suggest the best type of steps for a Maverick 1000SL? I'm trying to figure out how scissor steps would mount and store to this model. There is a distance of 6-8 inches between the bottom of camper body and bottom of door. Thanks! Sheila Torklift's "The Glow Step" seems to be a neat idea. |

QUOTE(Bugs @ Jul 7 2009, 11:58 AM) Former owner will dropping off the 1997 Lance 945 that we purchased from them shortly. We need to install the necessary hardware on to our 2008 Chevy 2500 D-Max/Allison so we can start truck camping. Dealer wants: Air Bags $550, Tiedowns $700, Wiring $240=$1490 I am mechanically inclined and think I can bolt on these items for a lot less $. I would like the tie downs that go to the chassis and not the bed. Do I want the HappiJacs or the Torklifts or something else? Can you recommenend air bags? Are the Lance Air-Lift bags with "Jounce Bumpers" proprietary to Lance? Should I wire it direct or use the 10" foot pigtail that allows you to use the trailer plug for the camper as well as tow a trailer? That would seem to be the cleaner way with less splicing of the wires. Sorry for all the questions but we are new to the truck camper and would like to do it right and save some $! Thanx in advance!
