Favorite Truck Camper(s): Any
Type and Brand of Truck(s) Owned: Dodge ram 3500 dually
Type of Tiedowns used: None
Truck and Camper Setup: I am looking for a hard side camper for my truck and looking for information

Hi, I am new to the forum and trying to get some information and opinions regarding a good hard side camper for my truck.
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab long bed dually diesel 2wd. with a manual 5 speed trans.
I want to make sure I’m not looking at to large of units as I would like to pull my Jeep on a trailer behind it.
Any recommendations?

I would look at Lance, Arctic Fox, Northern Lite, Nu Camp. It seems like you have a good size truck. Check with a dealer and explain your concern and they will definitely steer you in the right direction. Good luck, you can't beat a truck camper.

I have a 04 Chev Dually Diesel carrying a 9.4 Bigfoot camper. It handles the camper very well and has lots of power. Having the duallies is no big deal as the truck fender is only about an inch wider than the camper and it makes a big difference in handling and safety. Myself - I wouldn't go over the GVW of the stock truck rather than trying to beef it up with air-bags, etc. I think the camper is around 3000lbs loaded but it probably would not have a problem with a boat trailer. The 2500 series Bigfoot camper are great. The 9.4 has the bathroom next to the "bedroom" making for a nice bright room in the back of the camper. We are very comfortable in it and have taken trips up to 6 months long with no problem. Pretty exciting - Good luck, eh? cool.gif
