Hi,
I am installing a Hellwig sway bar on my F250 which has Airlift 5000 air bags. My question is: do I adjust the sway bar while the bags are deflated, partially inflated or fully inflated. I assume it does make a difference? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. I installed a Big Wig sway bar on my 3500 and the directions called for adjusting it with the truck level. Unless you plan on really jacking up the rear of the truck with the air bags it shouldn't be a concern. I use my air bags when loaded and the sway bar works fine.

Glad my truck came factory with a 1.5" sway bar rear and front. You need to adjust it with no air in the bags and the bed empty, IOW stock ride height.
If you plan on running off road (like I do), I'd suggest a set of sway bar disconnect links. Reason being is off road and suspension articulation can snap the links off. Lot's of stress on them when the differential is at an angle. Don't know if Helwig makes disconnect links but Skyjacker does. |
