Good morning! We are retiring and are in the process of purchasing a 2wd 2018 Tacoma Access Cab (long bed) so that we can start truck camping. We are long time car/tent campers but would like to move on to camping out of a truck bed. We are looking at getting some sort of shell (hard or soft) with a cargo rack for carrying our Thule cargo box on top, a tent extension for the tail gate area (I'm 6'5"), a swing away 2 bike rack for the hitch and a roll out tarp from one side of the rack. We really want to stay away from roof top campers.
Also, we'd like to know if a set up like the "Decked" drawers will leave enough room to sleep in the shell. We are retiring so there are a lot of good reasons to do this on the cheap...but we are still interested in quality over price. What are the suggestions from the board members here? Thanks! |
