I rarely see one, but would there be any advantage/disadvantage to mounting your truck camper onto a flatbed 1 ton duley, and then add storage units where the side panels of the box would have been? This seems much more pragmatic than losing all this potential storage space by slipping your camper into a regular truck bed?

FWIW, I'm trying to do my homework, and options, for purchasing my first truck camper/truck combo, which is the motivation for my inquiry.

Thanks everyone!!

There are a few companies that manufacture truck campers specifically for flat beds like Hallmark and Nimbl but I think they are high dollar. I think having a regular truck camper on a flat bed with storage is a great idea.
