I laid down the bucks for a Windwalker 250 wind turbine. I'm going to be off the grid most of the time and thought this would be another good option, with the solar panel, for keeping the batteries charged.
One thing I noticed when I was giving it an Ops Check was it took quite a bit of wind to get it started and keep it turning.
So, I got some 4" PVC sewer pipe from Lowes, took it down to my workshop and manufactured some longer blades. I added 6" to the original 12" blades. It made a world of difference. With the 18" blades, I need much less than 30 mph winds to get it turning.
