I have a 8' Vanguard, its 1200 lbs dry, and I only have a 1/4 ton Tacoma. I can pull the weight (3500 lbs), and its looking like it will cost around the same as buying a 1/2 -3/4 ton truck + insurance.
I've seen a camper on a flat deck truck, and I'm sure it can be done on a deck trailer. I'll use some load binders on either end to make sure it wont slide, plus I can probably nail a boarder to keep it put. Anyone ever done this, or think of any problems with it. I know the camper will have to have a front crank, and a tandem trailer would be best. I should be good for max tongue weight, and I can adjust the camper on the trailer for the best center of gravity. Thanks for any help. |
