Hallmark has a very good reputation of a well built truck camper.

I know this is late but the XP Camper is a hard side pop up but the bed area does have soft canvas.
XP Camper

I am surprised more truck camper manufactures don't at least try a hard side pop up.

Thanks for the advisement. The 12 STC looks nice. It looks a little cramped for full-time living, but was reading an interview with the Northstar head guy....he alluded to the fact that some places don't allow slide-outs?

One thing I'm kinda lost on....."basements". What does this mean in the truck camper world? All of these campers have some form of subfloor stowage. Is there something that sets a basement model apart from a non-basement?

A basement in a truck camper just refers to the storage space you can access on the outside of the truck camper. Must hard side truck campers have them but for people who do a lot of off roading they usually get the pop up truck campers that don't have basements.

I am looking at a Northern Lite 9-6 Q Classic Special Edition which has a dry weight of 2625 lbs and is 98" wide and 198" long. I am sure I will change my mind a couple of times before actually purchasing a truck camper but I really don't want the dry weight to go over 3000 lbs.

I do not have deep pockets but when I purchase a pickup truck I will make sure I ask around and do my research.

I want to buy a truck camper and looking to purchase a one ton pickup truck within the next year. My question is which do you think is better to carry a truck camper a dual wheel pickup truck or airbags.

Does Walmart promote camping in theire parking lots?  Are there laws against it?

Camping isn't permitted but overnight parking is permitted in most Walmart parking lots. It's people who drag out the barbecue and lawn chairs and make themselves at home that get in trouble.

I don't believe the Honda 2000 generator was meant to run an air conditioner. You need two 2000 or a 2000 and a 1000 combined.
