This one seems to be a really innovative and considerably cheap means of getting work done, surely looks sturdy enough to be durable and good enough to survive a few years of travel, will surely try to work out something like this on my vehicle as well.

Thanks!

Yeah, They were cheap to build using scrap metal, But still very strong!

This is a easy build if you plan to do it!.... I'm planning on buying a new diesel truck, So I guess I'll have to build a set for it, But I may use tubing instead of pipe.... I've had my camper out on two trips since I built these and they work great!!!

If you plan to build a set and need some help just let me know! smile.gif

Looks great! I like the quick disconect style so they are virtually not there when umloaded.

Great job!

I built my own too. Great way to go if you can weld.

Yeah, I had to make them so I can take the pipes out, because the rear pipes would hit the jacks when I unloaded my camper and pulled forward.

Its great to be able to weld and build your own things! smile.gif .... I own a welding shop and build & sell tractor attachments and many other things.

Thanks!

Have you had any issues with the anchor points on your camper pulling out ? I saw where someone did a frame mount and used spring loaded turnbuckles . I bought the tubing today to build these but am a little concerned about the anchor eye bolts on my camper . Thx.

Truck and Camper Setup: I don't have either yet but will withing the next month. Pretty much set on the truck but still looking at campers but tending towards North Stars.

Aren't the tie downs supposed to lend restraint both for forward and reverse motion or impact? It appears yours are only sufficient to prevent rearward movement of your camper but provide nothing to prevent forward movement in the event of an accident or severely short stop.

Da Toad asks what is to prevent forward movement. I'm still new to campers but doesn't the front bulkhead of the bed prevent forward movement?

Favorite Truck Camper(s): Still deciding
Type and Brand of Truck(s) Owned: 2016 GMC3500dualyy4x4diesel
Type of Tiedowns used: Torklift with Fastguns
Truck and Camper Setup: The plan will utilize a 3500 GMC with a 11 or 12' TC with a full compliment of Torklift hitch components and tie downs. Stable loads if needed will be installed.

Looks like nice work and a whole lot cheaper than traditional new tie downs. I would think that the bump stops on the front of the camper would prevent forward motion of the TC. Thanks for including pictures of your rig and your work, having something to look at along with your explanation adds to your post. DA TOAD are you reading this? Hint Hint

Yes I am reading this. However I still think that the tie-downs should supply restraint for both forward and reverse motion. Just my take and what I was told by the folks where I bought my camper. smile.gif
