When you put a camper on your truck how did it affect the mileage?

I have a 2011 Ford F250 with 6.2 liter gas engine and 6 speed automatic transmission and a Lance 805 camper (dry weight around 1500 pounds). Without the camper I use around 15 liters per 100 km on the highway; with the camper it uses around 20 liters per 100 km. Sorry about the metric units if you are in the USA. You can get conversions on the internet.

Simply put, the truck uses about 30 percent more fuel with the camper on.

My TC weighs 3000 lbs dry on my 2002 F250 7.3 diesel 4x4 LB . Normally I average 16.5 mpg.
Last summers trip west from Albuquerque through Yosemite to the coast and back with lots of hills and highway speeds of up to 75 mph , the lowest I got was 10.5 mpg . The highest was 12 mpg.

So, that's my experience . Like you, would also like to hear what others get.

Staying away from cruise control, staying a steady 63, with reg fuel 6.0 engine 11 mpg with the camper is my best. Empty with same technique 15.5 mpg is tops.
Can't overstate need for keeping a clean (new) air filter. That's good for an extra 1.2 mpg.
