anyone know where or if these can be rebuilt? i can get mine re certified but my old style valve leaks and the local propane dealer says he can't get the valve, i am in northern california. thanks for replys
also, this is a five pound tank, horizontal use.

I think you mean 5 gal (20lb) not 5 lb. Having dealt with these tanks before I know when the mandatory change came out around 2000 you could exchange your tanks for refurbished (new OPD valves) ones for about $30. There should be plenty of these tanks still around you just need to find a propane distributor large enough to deal with them, that might entail a drive of some distance, don’t know about your area. Also not familiar with the laws in your state, many states adopted their own laws in addition to the DOT requirement of a 12 yr hydrostatic test interval. Please don’t quote this as fact as this is just my recollection on the issue. Good luck and happy camping. Also check the RV.net, I know it’s been discussed over there.
