My new Dodge dually is 96" wide and with the Lance Atwood swing out brackets I am barely getting an inch on each side. This is to close for comfort. Does anyone have any ideas!!!

Yes... Atwood makes extension brackets, they cost about $368. I upgraded my truck myself recently. For now, I'm going to place a towel between the fender and the jack leg to protect the fender paint. As the fender's are extremely flexible, I figure I do not remove my camper all that much. When backing under the camper I move extremely slow, barely a crawl. This allows for easy slight corrections.

I even thought of going to a professional welder to get an estimate from him. Who knows it my be cheaper.

You could always unbolt the jacks, back under your camper, then bolt them back on. Some kind of quick-release set-up or a cordless drill with a socket might speed-up the process.

Seriously though, do you have a wide body or narrow body Lance camper? I remember looking at a used Lance that was considered a narrow body unit and was told by the sales staff that even with the addition of the swing-out brackets, it would be a tight fit on my dually.

My current rig is a 2008 F350 dually and an Arctic Fox 1150. I probably have 1 " to 1 1/2" of clearance on each side, but the camper fits so tight between the truck bed fender wells that hitting the front jacks is not likely. I'd have to crush one of the fenders to ever get over far enough to hit a jack.

I have a Lance 921 on a F350 Dually. I have just 1" at each side and that is enough to get the camper on. I only watch the drivers side, because when that is good the pass. side is ok as well and I cant see that side, only via the mirror so I don't use that one.

I raise the camper and back up the truck and lower the camper with in 7 minutes. That's the time that the remote activation switch switches off.

Good luck.

Ps. just bolt in 1" extenders made from 3/8" thick steel plates and you're the man.

I purchased my first camper recently and it came with a pair of jack extensions that were made by the prevous owner. They are simple and look very durable. I didn't measure the distance they slide out, but I bet 3" at least.

I took them off last weekend and they are in my shed. I don't plan to purchase a dually, so I will be selling them for a reasonable price if you are interested. I can shoot you a picture or post a pic if you need this item still.
