Hi, I'm new here and I'm going to look at a 1997 Lance 195 Truck Camper. I'm just wondering is there any drawbacks on the older ones? Should I look for something newer or are the older ones OK ? It suppose to be in like new condition, and I've been there and done that . So I'll have to take a look and see for myself. I notice that on the older Lance campers they have aluminum on the roof/sides, and the newer ones are like a fiberglass sheet on the sides. I don't need any slide outs, and would like something as light as possible, probably like everyone else. Anyway any help would be appreciated. Thanks smile.gif

I just sold my 87 lance ls3000 I had for
about 4 yrs when I bought it I had to
redo all the plumbing which was easy
with the stuff they sell now but that camper
was great sold it for $500 more than I
paid for it just look for leaks in plumbing
and all over inside keep an eye out for
wood rot and make should everything works
I learned alot from that first camper
good luck

OK, I ended up getting a 2000 Lance 845 in excellent like new shape. I'm getting the truck ready now with wiring and Torklift tie downs so we can go camping.

I bought an older 1995 Lance Camper. I would suggest that you look very carefully for wood rot in the wings. A major problem that I overlooked before I bought. Rusted screws in the trim are a warning sign.

I must say that I have learned alot about camper construction repairing the damage (an ongoing saga); nonetheless, my wife and I hope to go cross country in the Lance this fall.

Man that is some scarry reading I must say. I did check out this camper pretty well before I bought it, and again today when I picked up the camper. Yep I brought her home today, and I will go over it again probably tomorrow. Anyway listen to this problem, I picked up the camper today with my 2004 GMC Duramax and soon as I pulled out of the guys driveway the engine light came on. I brought the camper home and put it in my barn, and the light went off. Has anyone else heard of something like this ?
