I don't have a lot of experiance with propane or small engines. Check your spark plug(s), make sure they are not fouled and are properly gapped. Check your spark plug wires, if they are 7 years old then you may want to replace them (and your spark plugs too). Make sure they have good contact with the spark plug and the distributor. Make sure your points are good. Again, not a lot of experaince with small generator engines. I haven't had any problems with my gen, so I haven't needed to tear into it. The smallest engine I've worked on is my Baja Bug's engine.

Generally you need fuel, air and spark for an engine to run. If your fuel is aligned properly and your air filter is clean, you should concentrate on the spark side. If all that is good, and assuming that a propane engine has some sort of carberation, then your getting into a whole new can of worms that I'm still learning about.

Hope what little I provided can help or at least get you started.

I too have a propane generator and if I had it to do over again I would go with a portable gas instead. What I have learned is that you stand a much better chance of getting the propane generator to start if the tank is full or close to full, the weather is warm and the elevation is under about 3500 feet. I usually get mine started but it's always a challange.

I have a propane generator and it works fine. If it has not been used for a
while I light the stove burners, to make sure the propane is flowing good. Then
after a couple of cranks it starts.

The owners manual for my Generac lists low oil pressure as a possible cause of stating failure. There is a safety switch that will shut it off if the pressure is too low.
That's as much as I can tell you as I am not a mechanic. Be sure there is no load on the genny when you try to start it. Shut of all of your lights, etc and once it starts then turn them on one at a time. The same proceedure is recommended for portable generators people use when a storm hits.

Mine starts right up and runs for about ten minutes and then wants to cut out. Anyone have any ideas with that situation?

Good luck.

I just bought a 1998 Lance Legand 945 and the Generac had/has 117 hrs on it. I bought it with the generator not working. I did everthing I could before bringing it to a RV repair service. What happend was that the exhaust valve spring broke and also bent the valve. The cause was the computer board went bad and told the motor to run wide open. After spending 485.00 It now runs great. When cold it dose need to crank for 15-20 seconds then on the second try it fires write up. I'm told the boards are common to go on these things regarless of Generac or onan or honda.
