Full Version: Wiring Question

I am going to be here a lot over the next few weeks!

We are having a cable made for the camper. Male to male 10'.

Now here is another question. We have an adapter to take the four way on our truck up to a seven way plug, but that will only operate the marker lights correct? We will not be using the 12 volt to run the interior lighting in the camper.

I found this converter that would allow the camper plug, plus the four way for the boat.

Would this converter solve the problem?

And the next question, where do we draw the blue, black, and yellow wires from? Or if I am asking that question should we have someone else hook it up. I am actually good about wiring, I just do not know where to draw the wires from on the truck.

As for another question. What operates the water pumps in the camper? I know the fridge and heater are either gas or electric. But in situation where we do not have an electric hookup, how are the water pumps operated?

Anything else on how TC operate is VERY appreciated!

RV water pumps are normally 12V operating on the battery. Also, the 4-way to 7-way adapter is priced lower at the link provided.

I generaly wire in a second battery under hood to supply power to camper. I use an isolator to keep from killing the truck battery.

besides your waterpump, in general the heaterfan uses 12v, the frig even when running on propane uses 12v, fans are 12v too. You are half a year down tne road since your posting, how the electric system working out for you? I made a (fused on both sides) 2gauge welding wire between my truck batteries and my camper batteries to minimize voltage drop; the 12v feed through the trailer plugin caused way too much voltage drop to properly charge the batteries. A solenoid connects the TC batteries to the truck batteries when the ignition is on.
