Can or will a 2016 bracket work on a 2003 superduty. It calls for a 2011 does anyone know the difference

My understanding is that 2011 started a new body style for Ford and ended in 2016. The guys at Torklift have been great answering all my questions and I actually ordered everything I need from them direct. I am sure they can help you determine what you need for your 2003 Ford.

I'm not all that fond of the Torque Lift hold down brackets. The rear brackets are acceptable but the front brackets space the tie down's too far apart. You really want at least one set of brackets (tie down points) inboard from the tie downs on the camper itself, pulling inward, not outward because an outward pull will allow the camper to slide sideways in the bed in off camber travel, Only the HappyJac front tie down system puts the securement force inward.

My preference is Torque Lift in the rear, HappyJac in the front, how I secure my camper and I have no issues whatsoever with sideways movement.

It's a simple matter of geometry

But doesn't the outboard tie down on the opposite side Tork Lift limit movement when off-camber i.e.one loosen, but the other one tighten? How big an issue is this?

First off, they are spring loaded, not rigid and secondly, the angle of pull (securement) is outward of the camper tie down point. The Happyjac front mount in inboard of the tie down point.

Only the rear mount is rigid, not the front.

Not trying to debate this point. Trying to get a handle on how much of a problem this movement is. I have been doing a lot of reading and I don't see many comments. Is this an issue only for serious off-roaders or does it happen routinely while underway. I am trying to decide which tie downs to use and I hate drilling the bed of my truck unless it is absolutely necessary.

This forum doesn't get much traffic so it is hard to tell. smile.gif

Serious off roading only. Would be extreme off camber situations. You are right, not much traffic on this site. However, I've seen you post on other sites before.

It's the vertical V and the inverted V that applies. The vertical V is the HappyJac (front securement) and the inverted V is the Torque Lift front securement. The rerar securement is better with the Torque Lift brackets because the tie down's from the camper aren't depending on the step bumper for structural hold.

I have used Torklift on every camper and truck that I have ever had. I go into some very extreme places for a camper. I have never had a Torklift tiedown give me any trouble and I will never use anything else. My front tiedowns pull forward and out slightly and I have never had my camper move at all. Either side to side or front to back.
This forum may be a little slow but thats the way some folks like it. I took over this forum back in 06 and it had been hijacked by porn. I with help from admin got it all cleaned up and somewhat under control. Every forum starts out slow and builds a member base sometimes slowly. I also have used some of the bigger forums and found them too unpersonal(if thats a word) I once got kicked off a TC forum just because I disagreed with a Moderator and I was right.
Sidecarflip, I notice that you didnt become part of our LITTLE forum untill 2016, 10 years after I started working on this forum to kinda make it for the LITTLE people. I see you have 133 post so thank you for your input and helpful info, however, If you are not happy here please try something else and dont be saying that the forum "is not much" as it means a lot to me and the other members. Maybe someday it will be better maybe not as for now it suits me and others just fine. Not gonna debate with you or get into some long drugout conversation, just want you to be happy here or move on. Gary,

Any thoughts about how to build up volume? I am a very active participant on some of the Ford Truck forums, but don't have a truck camper yet and have been searching a lot of forums at the same time I am searching for a truck camper and everything that goes along with it. However, I am a very experienced RVer an have owned one or more of virtually every other type of RV, so I guess you might say I am "trying to fill my dance card".

So far I have gone back and forth between pop-up and hard shell, etc, etc. tongue.gif
