Always been an issue with me, seeing what is behind me. Sure my F350 Ford has the recreational rear view mirrors so I can see clearly down the sides and out the back a ways but... Directly behind the camper, no way and...
If I have my trailer on the back, I cannot check to see if the quads are secure, other than stopping and looking and..... what about those habitual tailgaters, the ones that are so close, you can 'heel' them but you cannot see them.... Problem solved. Bought a Furrion wiireless rear view Camera from Wally World as a Christmas present to myself. Has a night vision color camera transmitter that fits in a plastic housing that you install on the rear of your camper (as high as possible) and wire into your camper power (I wired mine into my clearance lights as I run with my lights on for safety all the time anyway), extend the antenna, put the receiver with it's LCD display on your dash and power it up for a crisp color image of what is behind you, that you cannot see. |

On my inaugural trip back from AZ to MI, I was thinking the same thing. A little surprising, and unsettling, when all of a sudden I'm getting passed by someone I never saw.
Also, I intend to tow my Harley in the future. This would be a great help. I'll investigate the Furrion. Thanks. |

Since my wife is already asking about this, the post is helpful.

My camper came with the camera installed on the top rear of the camper. It is wireless and has a 7" monitor that plugs into the 12 volt outlet of the truck. The camera is on when the parking lights are on.
It works at night also. Although at night the color is a greenish black and white. Mine is a 4UCAM, Tadi brothers is also very popular, but there are dozens of choices.Just decide on how much you want to spend. Sometimes I have to climb up and clear the lens of fog or grime. It also helps when it comes time to hook up the boat. The main reason I wanted a camera is so I tell that my boat is doing OK. -------------------- 2011, F-350,CC,DRW,6.7,4WD

I started out wired to the clearance lights and changed my mind in mid stream. I wired it to a switch that I put next to my electric roof lift. That way I can have it on anytime I want and the switch is illuminated in the on position as a reminder that the camera is on, even though the cam has a blue light on it when energized.
The one I got (Furrion) has a selectable reverse parking grid too. I like it. I can be stealthy with folks behind me now... Colors are ok. Not concerned with colors more concerned with seeing back there... I have 3 others on my farm tractors I bought off of flea-bay but they are wired, not wireless. |
