I'm about to pick up my Four Wheel Fleet camper next week, and thinking about stopping by NYC to visit family on the way back. Is it safe to park a truck camper on the street overnight? (I wouldn't be sleeping in it, just parking it.) I could stay with people in the Upper West Side, or Harlem (near 114th St.), or Brooklyn (near Prospect Park).
Or would it be best to put it in a garage? (It's a pop-up... low-profile.) |

Knowing NYC (my wife is from White Plains), I'd refrain from street parking in any Borough. At best, you might have exterior damage overnight, at worst, broken into. You could always drive out on the island a ways, park in a train station lot overnight and take the LIE back into the city. That would be your best bet actually. Anything past Islip would be ok.

There is a campground in NJ that you could leave it and take the train or bus in to Manhattan for your visit. It would be much safer that way.

I support @SidecarFlip, NYC isn't a safe place where you can park your car on the roadside. My parents leave there and they have installed access control systems in their home for security. Break-ins are common in the area so it won't be safe to park your car by roadside. It will be better to look for some safe garages.
