Northstar just introduced a 7 foot self contained pop up TC for 1/2 ton short bed trucks.
TCM did a review with lots of pictures here: http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/camper-...r-650sc-review/ Nice unit, well within the capacity of a 1/2 ton truck. MSRP is $21,000.00 but like most units, expect to pay considerably less. I'd say one can be had for 16-17 fully optioned out. Take a look, nice, quality unit with everything needed for off road camping plus a low Cg. |

I have a northstar laredo 8 ft sc hard side I have the north south queen bed, and air with aluminum siding. weighs about 2000 lbs. loaded. I have a 1/2 ton truck. I had to get e rated tires , airbags and rear anti swaybar. you have to beef the suspention up some to handle that weight. it is a very nice camper |

Hard sides always weight more than pop-ups. and the Cg is higher as well.
