Truck and Camper Setup: Small light Kenkraft slide-in camper.

I know, Rangers aren't made for hauling campers, but I have a line on a very light (about 800lbs) Kenkraft slide-in camper/camperette that even loaded would keep me under my load limit on my Ranger. I've installed helper springs as well. I'm an amateur astronomer and would mostly use it to go to star parties, but these are typically in out of the way places off pavement.

I'm now onto tie-downs. Frame-mounted systems seem like overkill and are expensive. Happijac only seem to have the rear bumper mount type for my truck. Looking at the Brophy heavy-duty type that clamp on the box. Would they be adequate for a small, light camper? Or Brophy front and Happijac on the rear? Any suggestions or advice appreciated?

Thanks.

Build your own. Not that difficult. You have a receiver hitch on the back? Run a length of tubing with a stup welded so it fits in the hitch and the sides extend past the edge of the bed a bit, add screw eyes and you have the rear tie downs. For the front get the HappyJac front mount and shorten it to fit the bed. You don't need Fast Guns or HappyJac tie rods, a set of 1" ratchet straps work fine.

Thing outside the box.
