QUOTE(TA_Pump @ Mar 29 2009, 03:38 AM)
Ok, so I know all about the Class V Titan receiver and extension, and about tork lifts supertruss setup. I have a jet ski that I wish to tow behind my truck and camper. The camper is 11.5 feet, so I need an extension. The jet ski and trailer are light, so light that I can pick up the tongue and move the trailer by hand easily. I can't justify forking out $700 for a receiver and extension when this is all Im going to tow. There cant be anywhere near 100# of tongue weight on the trailer. Anyone have any ideas for a lower cost alternative? Even if I have to do some welding and fabricating, it would still be much cheaper I think. Thanks guys

huh.gif dont cut corners when it comes to towing ,if things go bad-no WHEN things bad back at the tow hitch, people can get hurt or even killed , save the money else where , man up and install the right towing gear smile.gif

My camper is a 1988 Lance 980 11.3. The truck is a 1995 F350 crew cab dually. No sure if it it is considered a big camper or not. I usually camp with the kids by my self and I have my hands full. Anything that can make my life easier when camping means a lot. I guess I'll start practicing with what I have at home. Roger

Dont be afraid of your hyd jacks go ahead and use them ,its like backing a boat down the ramp the slower the better , you will see its no problem ,it just takes alittle time and practice wink.gif I would use the money elsewhere and not buy the electric jacks the hydralic ones work good and the are easy to maintain

My girlfriend and I live in Eugene, OR. Theres a TON of great camping all around the area. Within two hours of Eugene, you can hit snow covered mountains, wide open desert, or the beach.

QUOTE(Captain Lancelot @ Sep 1 2008, 07:04 PM)
Since I didn't get a response to my question last time, let me try again --

My Generac 3.4 propane-fueled generator on my 1998 Lance camper just gave up the ghost (at least it waited until after we got home). I'm thinking about replacing it with an Onan propane fueled generator after I pull the Generac out. I asked Lance what they would recommend and got no reply. Will I need to modify or replace anything in order to install and hook up an Onan?

I dont think so It will go right in. dry.gif I do know you will have better luck with the onan, generac sets are junk

I don't see why not. Just measure your bed and find a camper that fits. You may have to do some wiring for the plugin but it should work, after all, it is a truck, and I mean a TRUCK. Weight for sure won't be a problem. Looks like an old forestry service truck to me. cool.gif

you can put a camper on your truck , it could get a little scary loading it on , how may blocks do you have? huh.gif a wise old southern gent once told me " son with enough money you can make a anvil fly "good luck rolleyes.gif

Your main problem will be the centers of gravity...truck vs camper.  As long as they match (doubtful), you should be OK.

dont put 10 pounds into a 5 pound bag you will be asking for trouble, find a short bed rig that fits your truck

QUOTE(wfanney @ Feb 2 2009, 04:17 AM)
I am looking for a good quality Truck Camper brand that is on the lower end of price. I don't need all the bells and whistles, but I want a good solid platform that is well built, holds it's value as well as holds up well and doesn't require a lot of maint. Would like something with heat, AC, Electric Jacks, and generator option. Still learning a lot about these units and I don't own one yet but I have been looking into Truck Campers off and on for about ten years. I am not familiar with any brands other than some off the names out there. This would be an entry level for me, my wife and  teenage daughter so I would like to sleep  a min of 4. A full bath would be nice but not necessary. One that is easy to load and unload and tie down to my f-350 long bed truck. Any thoughts?

I would say a Lance or a Fleetwood caribou, but all the items you mentioned are sort of in the "bells and Whistles" categories, good luck hope you find your rig and have a great time out there

QUOTE(Globetrotter @ Jan 26 2009, 06:13 PM)

We purchased a Lance 981, Model 2007. Recently we have seen that on our roof we have like bubbles pretty much all around the entire roof plus A/C, roof window. They are around 1-2 inches wide and about 1/4 inch high. When you press on it it feels like sticky, as if the glue does not stick anymore.

Has anyone had or heard of the same issue on other Lance's or camper's? Have you experienced any long term problems on this issue? Do you know how this cam be fixed? Thanks for any help.
*

bubbles are pretty common ,(some not a exsesive amount) in the edpm roll on roofs they install these days I had the same concerns about the bubbles on my 04 attitude 27ft toy hauler , they fixed most of them , but theres still a few up there even now ...so take your camper to Lance and they should fix it for you if it bothers you

Stolen? Thats the first time I have heard of one being stolen. Its a crazy society we live in now. Thanks for the input though. I am picking up my camper on Thursday. I ended up getting a 1994 11.5ft Caribou. It seems to be in good condition, and was garaged its whole life. Hopefully it holds up well, and hopefully some better camping weather shows up soon.

Caribou campers are real nice rigs my family has used them for years they are a little on the heavy side , they are made by Fleetwood so you know they are a quality build and will last a long time if maintained, unfourtunatly Fleetwood no longer makes campers so it might be hard to get parts good luck and have fun

I'm sure this camper has made her decision long ago, but for others with the same question Honda generators seem to be almost whisper quiet.

the onan gens set is bulletproof ,its safe it has its own space ,no cords ,no clutter no gas, you dont have to drag everything out and roll it back up when you leave, ive used all of them and Ill take the microlight propane rig any day
