Hello!

Since I have begun my research on Truck campers, I have noticed where I live, they are not very common. I live in Wisconsin. Is Truck camping more popular in the west? I have also noticed a scarcity of dealers here in the WI/ILL area. It seems like 5th wheel campers are more common in this area.

What are you seeing?

Thanks for your feedback!

From what I have seen, yes they are much more popular out west. I dont see many here in the Southeast either.

Are there many dealerships in your area? I am having to drive a long ways to get to a dealership for some of the campers I am interested in.

Lots of dealerships but not many TC's. Try Camping World they have dealerships all over and sometimes will have a camper brought to you if they can make a penny or two on it. Just a thought.

I live in the West and even out here it varies tremendously. Here in San Diego there are very few and I don't believe that we have any dealers of hard sided TC presently. On the other hand the largest Lance dealer in the U.S. Is 2 hours north in Ontario, Ca. Lots of equestrian activity up that way.

They are also more common the the NorthWest.

TC popularity took a dive 15 or 20 years ago when Toy Haulers came along since they permit you to carry your toys and give you camping space.

Thanks for your perspective. When I was a kid, I remember a lot of Truck Campers around. When I began thinking of retiring, I first looked into Class B style RVs because I don't need a lot of floor space and I wanted to maximise gas mileage. Unfortunately, the ceiling height on most Class B RVs are too low for me. (I am 6' 4"). So I began investigating Truck campers which have a ceiling height of 6'8". The more I looked into it, the better I liked them. smile.gif

We just bought our first truck camper! WE LOVE IT!

we are 50 something... no kids at home,,,, we wanted a nice bed, AC, and out of the elements.. we found it in a Lance 865 for our Toyota Tundra.. We also wanted to be able to take our Pontoon boat or ATV's without a lot of hassle.........

Campers are not for everybody,, but it's the level we wanted above a Tent!!!

God Bless

AFTER a 45' motor home which gave me the happiest day of my life...the day I got rid of that monster!

Wife and I began looking: Smaller motorhome, tow behind, 5th wheel. Went to RV show after RV show.

Met a guy who had a TC, he said take a look at mine, we did and we bought one, that was 6 years ago and have never looked back. Yes and if you wanted to trade me heads up for ANYTHING on the lot, EVEN, would NOT even consider it.

The newest ones have 3 slides (understand there is a 4 slide coming out????) Anything you have in a big rig of any kind I have in my Arctic Fox 1150, walk in shower, standing room for a 6'2" guy, wife and 5 dogs. We love it!
