I purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram Diesel SRW with the intentions of also buying a camper. I will read the forums for a while before asking about a camper but I would like to get some tie downs installed right away so I am prepared when the right camper becomes available. I do a fair amount of logging road travel with a little 4x4 off road driving. What are the options for tie downs? Is there one system/brand that is considered the best?
Thanks Doug |

We have Tork Lift tie downs and Fastgun turnbuckles that we like a lot and would recommend to anyone.

I suppose "best" is subjective. However, IMO, the Torklift has to be among the best, if not the best, tiedowns. Sounds like you're really looking for "cheapest."

QUOTE(LindaH @ Jun 21 2009, 09:29 AM) Because I pointed out that Torklift's were pricey does not mean I was looking for the cheapest tiedowns. Torklifts are at least twice as much as the other brands but I have ordered them anyways because I want quality. I am also getting the springs as I have read they are worth the extra $200. Thanks for your help Linda. |

I have a 07 Ram 3500 SRW, 4WD. We bought a Lance 9SC and drove off without any other suspension mods. We went with the Torqlift with fastguns and feel good about the system. We'll be on Ocracoke Island NC for Labor day weekend and Portsmouth Island NC for a week in Oct.

Thanks Doug TorkLift's here as well. There website has some impressive pictures of a truck that went down a mountainside with the camper on. The tiedowns held even during a rollover. Camper didn't look good, but was in one piece. I have seen photos of damage to truck beds when happyjac systems allowed camper to move. dave |
