So ... new to the site and learning so much reading thru the topics . Hubby and I are trying to decide between TC and TT ... we have a 14 year old son growing by the minute !!! Wondering about the adventurer 89rb sleeping arrangement ? We measured and seems to be 75 inches long ... hopefully will be enough ? Any thoughts ? Also ..... worried about some things I have read about certain places not allowing TC or either it allowing it to be removed from truck ? We will be boondocking and some campgrounds and parks ... so don’t want to purchase if this is a common occurance ..... thanks for reading replying

Having worked many facets of the RV industry as well as owning a total of 16 RVs of all types, my wife and I arrived at the conclusion that no one type has all the advantages or all the disadvantages.

For us, the benefit of having a TC is the increased ease of mobility. It's simply easier to do anything while traveling. For staying put it is simply not possible to ignore the advantage of added size of a TT or fiver. We ended up by keeping both a fifth wheel and a TC. I realize not the ideal solution for many folks, but it works well for us.

Here in the Southeast it is not like being out West and truck campers in our neck of the woods are not commonplace. Just not the wide open spaces to explore like there are once you hit Wyoming and Montana. So part of the answer to your question is where you intend to camp most often. We loved our truck camper having spent the summer in the National Parks, but would not have enjoyed it near as much when we camp in areas closer to us.

As to being turned away at campgrounds, it just never happened to us and no one ever said a word other than "we always have room for a truck camper", which is a huge advantage when traveling in the summer when finding space can be challenging if you are not boondocking.

Happy hunting, Steve

My comment is RV parks are privately owned and as such, different parks have different rules. If I stopped some place and the park owner didn't permit a TC or allow you to rake it off the truck...I'd be going elsewhere. Real simple.
